Things to Think About When Moving

When moving to a new city, there are dozens of questions that need to be asked. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as having the mover drop off your boxes at a random address and calling it a day. Instead, you will need to find your new favorites in a brand-new location.

The Neighborhood

As you are house-hunting, you will need to factor in what your priorities are. Do you want to be close to the freeway so it is faster to get to work, or do you need a better school system? Do you need a backyard for your dog, or lower property taxes? Looking closely at a map and statistics can help you write pros and cons of each area.

The Needs

Where are you going to go for your primary care doctor? What about a kids dentist Jacksonville? Which grocery store fulfills your needs, and which post office is closest? As you ask yourself where the closest hardware store is, you will need to study the options around your new home to find all of your regular haunts again.

The Neat to Know

Once you have all of the requirements ticked off your list, it is also time to find some of the fun places in your new neighborhood. Which coffee shop has the best work tables? Which restaurant serves the best burgers? Where are the best spots for a date night or a play date? Finding those places that make you say, “Neat!” can help your perspective become more positive.

Whether you are moving across the metro or across the country, it can feel overwhelming to re-establish yourself in a new neighborhood. Finding places that you can trust can be a huge step in settling the nerves and making your new address into a place you truly call home.
